Do not place players into competitive matches that have already started, especially when only one or two rounds remain. Joining late can leave players with no meaningful opportunity to contribute while still exposing them to an unfair rank loss. Competitive matches should only begin with players who are present from the start.
There should NOT be a moment when a player is queueing a competetive match and it loads him ongoing match, for example u join 0-5 lobby and u loose and u loose your ELO points cuz of 1 round, its very bad
I autofilled into a competitive match that was 0-5 as a drone (the round already started). My teammate died, the match ended, and I lost ELO without ever getting the chance to actually play the game. This could happen to anyone. The easy fix is just to not allow autofill in competitive matches.
This update should definitely be added. It has already happened to me around 4–6 times that I joined a competitive lobby, only to find out that it was already the final round and my team ended up losing. Because of this, I lost ranking points even though I barely had any chance to actually play or influence the match. There should be a system that prevents players from joining a competitive match when it is already in its final round, or at least prevents them from losing points in this situation.
That being said, if someone leaves a competitive match he should be penalized
This should also apply to the basic modes because playing free for all / deathmatch in a already started game is SO unfair.
I've even joined games as a drone when the score was 1-5 and teammate loses a 1v2 boom down 50 elo. Might be better for a 1 v 2 win to get 70 elo and sanctions on the abandoning teammate. Obviously maybe 70 elo would be a bad idea as then smurfs might do this on purpose for friends in the last round but maybe if it happens before final round or something. Even still, 1 v 2 is very difficult unless already a very good player or lucky, so i dunno. but late joining ranked games doesnt seem like its fair on the joining player. Personally id rather be mad at the abandoner then have it possible someone could join.
