Fix Scope and Red Dot Zeroing
Under considerationby Taah · 03 Sept
Correct the zeroing and reticle alignment of scopes and red dot sights.
Currently, bullets can land noticeably below the reticle, even at relatively short ranges, forcing players to compensate for an unintended vertical offset.
The point of aim and point of impact should align at the intended zeroing distance, with consistent and predictable offsets at other ranges. This would make optics more accurate and reliable across different weapons and attachment configurations.

Please google 'height over bore'

POV: Thats not a bug its a feature.
The red dot(any sight) should be sighted for a specific range idk what that range is in game rn though. Usualy 50-100m for red dots sound decent and scoped options for 100-300m.

When using the TA31H ACOG (The Pre-calibrated 5.56x45 optic straight from the minds at trijicon, to our boys and girls in different variations of green and tan) you are *actually* supposed to use the tip of the post (normally reserved for targets at 300 yards) to aim at anything 25 yards and under. This is because of a neat little real life feature I came up with a name for that I have yet to patent, called the "Rounds-leave-the-barrel-in-an-arc-and-also-height-over-bore-is-a-thing-that-exists" law. Hope this helps.

paralax and sight zeroing would complicate the game a bit... it's complicated enough IRL

Some of this is intentional; height over bore.
However, when your optic is zeroed for a particular distance, you *can* compensate for this.

I agree. Scope zeroing is must in this game as this setting is personal preference and currently its limited to fixed (unknown) value. I prefer 50m on AR and aim above heads on 10-15 meters to actually land headshot. Btw Vortex AMG UH-1 Gen II Recticle Pattern is great for such shootstyle and its also missing in the game.

Its a feature, not a bug. This is called height over bore and you also have to deal with this in real life. It also gets worse at short ranges.

Because of different model of barrels and rails could cause different height over bore, we need the ability to micro adjust the optic zeroing for all types of aiming sights available in the game. The settings need to be save as standalone preset, and not save with the loadout. At the loadout optic selection page, user will select which preset to use for that loadout.
Also it would be nice to be able to name the preset or write long description for each optic preset.

This is functional height overbore and it's accurate to real life, not sure how well implemented it is.
