Add a Camera Lens Wiping Mechanic

Under considerationby Flawtism · 02 Sept

Allow water, mud, dirt, and blood to accumulate temporarily on the bodycam lens during rain, explosions, environmental interactions, or close-range combat. Players could manually wipe the lens using an animation similar to the mask-wiping mechanic in the Metro games. This would make environmental effects more immersive while giving players control over when to clear their view.

Perhaps your camera gets dirty from blood or mud and you could wipe it off with a keybind as opposed to wiping / adjusting at random like the gas mask wipe from metro exodus for example

Your bodycam should get dirty with rain, mud, debris etc, and you'd have the ability to wipe it off

Bodycam is all about ultra-realistic found-footage immersion. Right now, we have great touches like lens glare, audio distortion, breathing, and camera shakes, but we can push the bodycam perspective even further. The Idea: When eliminating an enemy at point-blank range, taking nearby explosive damage, or breaching close to debris, have a chance for blood, mud, or dust to splatter directly onto the camera lens. Mechanics & Gameplay Impact: Visual Obstruction: Splatters realistically cover parts of the lens, distorting vision and forcing the player to adapt mid-fight. Manual Wipe Action: Add a quick interactive action (e.g., holding a dedicated key or a context-sensitive wipe animation) where the operative uses their gloved hand or sleeve to quickly clear the lens. Risk vs. Reward: Cleaning the lens takes a second and momentarily takes a hand off the primary weapon/lowers ADS readiness, creating high-tension tactical decisions right after a frantic close-quarters kill. It reinforces the feeling that you are watching real, raw tactical camera footage and adds visceral tension to CQC encounters.
