Add Different Ballistics for Each Ammunition Caliber

Under considerationby meyu · 31 Aug

Make each ammunition caliber behave differently based on its real-world characteristics. For example, 9×19 mm and .380 ACP rounds could have different penetration, deformation, damage, and ballistic performance. These differences would make ammunition types feel more distinct and improve the realism of the weapon system.

So right now in the rifles there is 7.62x39mm, 7.62x51mm and whatever cadence is. Add the correct calibers to each rifle such as the ak 74 is 5.45 etc. The pistol calibers have more variety but they should still be caliber correct. Such as the Glock 18 is 9mm and the 1911 is .45

By changing which ammo type you use they could change how your gun behaves and performs. example would be changing the M4 from .556 to 300BLK. .556 fires a much smaller bullet at very high velocities which would make it a more accurate round and penetrate more. the .300BLK fires a much bigger bullet with the same powder charge as a .556 which would make the bullet slower, less accurate over distance and not penetrate as hard but the pros would be less recoil and much quieter with a suppressor especially if you guys make subsonic versions of applicable rounds like 9mm or 300BLK. PS... can we make tracer rounds actually have tracers. i was pretty sad when i spent 1500R for 9mm tracer rounds and they didn't work lol.

Weapon caliber should have an actual gameplay effect instead of being purely cosmetic. Different calibers should affect things such as damage, penetration, recoil, range, and effectiveness against different types of cover. For example, a rifle chambered in a larger caliber should generally have different ballistic performance than a smaller-caliber rifle. This would make weapon selection more meaningful and give players an actual reason to choose different weapons and ammunition rather than simply choosing based on appearance or cosmetic differences. I think a more realistic ballistic system would add depth to Bodycam while making the different weapons feel more distinct and rewarding to use.

Bodycam should make the higher power customizable ammunition options deal more damage than the default ammunition because it would give the new caliber system a meaningful gameplay purpose rather than making it purely cosmetic or interchangeable. If players were able change their caliber or ammunition type, there would be a noticeable reason to choose one option over another. If every caliber performs essentially the same, players have little incentive to experiment with the system. A stronger caliber could instead provide increased damage while introducing meaningful disadvantages such as: The developers have already built Bodycam around extensive weapon customization. The current loadout system includes dedicated ammo types, alongside attachments that can affect recoil, spread, ammunition capacity, and other weapon characteristics. The developers have also stated that customization is intended to let players configure weapons around their playstyle. This creates a genuine risk-versus-reward decision. For example, a player might choose the default ammunition for easier recoil control and faster follow-up shots, while another player chooses a higher-damage caliber because they value stopping power over controllability. It needs to be balanced, The higher-damage ammunition shouldn't simply become the objectively best choice. A good approach would be something like: Default ammunition: balanced damage, manageable recoil, normal capacity Higher-damage caliber: increased damage, but substantially more recoil and/or reduced magazine capacity, That way the player isn't getting a free upgrade they're making a strategic trade.

Make the calibers more realistic by adjusting recoil and other characteristics while maintaining their real-world ballistic performance. The same should apply to ammunition types, such as FMJ and hollow point rounds: some should perform better when shooting through walls, while others should be more effective against players. Also, add different ammunition types for 12-gauge shotguns, such as birdshot, buckshot, and slugs.
