Improve the Bodycam Adjustment Feature

Under considerationby John Segundo · 30 Aug

The bodycam adjustment currently appears to trigger unpredictably and can obstruct the player’s view for too long. It may continue even while the character is standing still or the game is paused, which can make the mechanic feel arbitrary rather than realistic. Rework its activation conditions, frequency, and duration so adjustments only occur when appropriate and stop when no longer necessary. This would preserve the intended realism without unnecessarily disrupting visibility or gameplay.

I would also like to suggest changing or removing the new Camera Adjustment feature, especially for competitive matches. The main issue is that the adjustment animation can obstruct the player's view. When this happens during a fight, the player can temporarily lose sight of an enemy or important surroundings. This can interrupt target tracking, delay reactions, and potentially affect the outcome of a fight. In competitive gameplay, players should have a clear and consistent view at all times. I don't think the feature itself is necessarily bad, but it should not interfere with gameplay. Suggested Solution Make the adjustment more predictable. Reduce how often it occurs. Reduce how much of the screen it blocks. Prevent it during active combat. Add an option to disable it, especially in competitive modes. Camera Adjustment should improve immersion without interfering with visibility or competitive gameplay.

I made a suggestion that, instead of a random system, it gives the player the control to adjust their camera when needed. My idea is to have the player's camera slowly shift off of center, eventually not being able to see down your sights at all, and just give the player a button to adjust it back to center. That way, you have to think about when to fix your camera just like you do reloading.

I could understand this happening when the player is idle or something but happening at random times in combat doesn't make sense. I think the last thing on a operators mind in the middle of combat is the body camera, and it would likely be connected to his vest in a way he wouldn't have to worry about it.

The camera should become 'misaligned' after sprinting over uneven surfaces or sprinting for long durations or after intense gunfight battles. Both conditions will need camera re-adjustments. Consider having the player buy better camera mounts to prevent re-adjustments?

Add a button to readjust cam and gameplay incentive to do so. All unpredictability gone.

Please remove this completely! it is a gimmick and it is disrupting the gameplay at this point. It is very annoying and doesn't add anything to the gameplay except frustration!!!

It’s extremely annoying how frequently the bodycam gets adjusted. When it happens this often, it actually does the opposite of making the game more immersive because you’re constantly noticing the camera being repositioned. In reality, a bodycam wouldn’t be adjusted anywhere near this frequently either. In a competitive FPS, I don’t think this mechanic should be there in the first place, or at the very least, it should be designed in a way that doesn’t make it feel even worse than a regular RNG mechanic.

Issue: Random camera adjustments right before an enemy enters the room often cause unfair deaths. Proposed Change: Manual Control. press "H" to manually reset the camera to a horizontal level. Let player decide when to set the camera back to 0 degree. --- Developer Specs: - Cap the maximum camera roll at +/- 5°. - Triggers: Running, jumping, falling, running into walls, and shooting impact the roll angle. - Exclusions: Walking and turning should not alter the camera roll angle. - Behavior: Roll direction (left or right) is randomized per event, but the roll magnitude is fixed per event type.
