Add a Wave-Based Zombie Defense Mode

Under considerationby POPO · 30 Aug

Add a cooperative defense mode in which six to eight players are trapped inside a location such as a house, subway station, shopping centre, warehouse, or restaurant. The team must defend the area against eight to ten increasingly difficult waves of zombies. Key mechanics could include: -Barricades that zombies can damage and break through -Wooden planks and other materials that players must find to repair defenses -Limited supply drops containing weapons, ammunition, medical supplies, and equipment -Strategic resource management between waves -Power outages that force players to rely on flashlights -Environmental details such as emergency television or radio broadcasts After surviving the final wave, players would receive an extraction message and need to leave the defended location to reach a rescue helicopter or vehicle. This final escape would create a tense conclusion instead of ending the match immediately after the last zombie is eliminated.

I think once they add limited ammo and ammo drops they should revamp how the zombies spawn. To balance having infinite ammo they spawn basically everywhere to catch you off guard, if we had to manage resources (like ammo) then even them walking in a straight line from one location would be hard to deal with. That being said I would love for a survival map where they only spawn outside and try to come in, I would rather it not end on a certain wave though since that would kill replayability (for me at least) lol

They can add option of having it endless or end at a certain wave, I personally like the version where it ends at some point via escaping cuz it gives a sense of objective.

Sorry for a second comment here but honestly if they just re-used the multiplayer maps and pumped out survival maps quickly to test it out I wouldn't mind. Having some boss zombies appear as the rounds get higher would be cool as well (like the grave dude in Village that is very tanky)

I wanted to expand on a recent community suggestion: https://bodycam-suggestions.featureupvote.com/suggestions/729212/add-a-wavebased-zombie-defense-mode Instead of making a brand new map for a zombie defense mode—I wanted to propose a lightweight addition that repurposes existing multiplayer maps into compact, replayable survival arenas. For example, Worn House already has a strong layout for a contained defense scenario. My focus is on round escalation, evolving breach points, and a new risk‑reward system rather than the mechanics already covered in the original post. Progressive Map Escalation Rounds 1–3 • All entry points begin sealed. • Players can open barriers/doors to access the exterior for melee kills or exploration or gathering resources. Rounds 5–7 • A boss zombie appears every ~5 rounds to disrupt pacing. • New upstairs breach paths open, forcing repositioning. Round 8+ • Basement exit becomes an active breach point, expanding the defensive perimeter. Dynamic Round Events • Every ~10 rounds, all zombies target a single window to create unpredictable pressure spikes (similar to Asylum’s runner round). These escalation beats keep the experience evolving without requiring new map assets. Airdrop‑Driven Risk/Reward Loop Building on POPO’s supply‑drop idea, this system encourages exploration and teamwork: Airdrop Behavior • Drops land randomly outside the defended structure. • Only an audio cue is provided—no marker—requiring active searching. • Supplies include ammo, weapons, or other supplies. Early Rounds • Safe to collect between waves. Late Rounds • Supplies become essential mid‑round, pushing teams to leave cover under pressure. Teamwork Incentives • Players coordinate who leaves, who covers, and when to risk a supply run. • Organized teams benefit significantly more than solo or uncoordinated groups. These additions add tension, decision‑making, and replayability.
