Add Bullet Drop for Long-Range Shooting
Under considerationby Smooth Operator · 28 Aug
I think snipers (or assault rifles with long range scopes) might be a bit too powerful on a map the scale of trenches.
To balance this, having bullet drop would seem like a great solution. This would make it much harder to hit a moving target at long range.
This also would make sniping more realistic and fun.

I think it should be realistic. weapons should be zeroed at 25m. hitting a 100m target should hit higher etc.

Bullet drop correlates with distance , i literally just sniping on trenches and the distance couldn't be more than 100m from end to end it seems. im just saying, we want realism right?

Hmm good point actually black dynamite. Maybe there could be other things to make sniping a bit more difficult instead, like scope sway or something.

The largest map end to end isn't enough distance for bullet drop to be noticeable

Sniping doesn't need to be more difficult. If you get shot, make a mental note that someone has eyes there and you shouldn't go there for a bit. Also, stay in cover. Sniping is powerful in this game because it's powerful in real life. Also, if you're getting sniped on trenches, you were either not in the trenches, or you didn't see the guy way high up in the church. Not a lot of vantage points there.

Bullet drop is the vertical distance a bullet falls below its initial line of departure due to the force of gravity. The moment a bullet leaves the barrel of a firearm, gravity begins pulling it toward the Earth, turning its path into a curved, parabolic trajectory.Understanding bullet drop is essential for long-range target shooting, hunting, and realistic military simulation video games.

I wish I could downvote this comment. The vast majority of targets in game are less than 100m. The shot at that range would actually be hitting lower than your point of aim due to most nations ranging on 100m, and most shots in this game being around 20-30m. I think people aren't realising how short these distances actually are in the maps.

ONLY ADD THIS IF IT'S REALISTIC; don't add it for the sake of balancing by making bullets drop like stones; implement proper zeroing and bullet trajectories; bullet drop should never be significant at 100m unless using buckshot or very slow 12ga slugs / subsonic ammo

What map do you think is big enough to factor in bullet drop? All of these maps are very small
Matthew06 Sept
At least adding travel time on shots past 25m would help. Bullet drop is irrelevant for anything but pistols on these maps anyways.
deftdragoon07 Sept
its realistic the way it is, with the scale of current maps there would be little if any bullet drop to begin with. maybe if they add a bigger map like that other guy brought up, a 20v20, but right now its fine.
carrioncat08 Sept
there is not going to be any range in this game where bullet drop would matter, it would be one of thos things that sounds super realistic, like jams, but actually be super fake.

Definitely against this. Don't turn this into an arcade shooter with guns that lob bullets into trajectories like they're heavy baseballs. I could be in support of this if it was done to match realism, but that minor adjustment to the gameplay likely wouldn't be worth the development time required unless you made some truly massive maps.

the snipers don't need bullet drop on that small of a map until you get to 100m but they need larger lobby maps where you can have multiple operators working like battlefield in a way otherwise the snipers feel redundant

This would only work if they add bigger maps in the future. Rn the maps are too small for bullet drop to take place
