Add a Downed State and Teammate Revival System

Under considerationby Shaman · 27 Aug

It would be great to implement a mechanic where, if my teammate is downed—provided they weren't shot in the head or finished off—I can revive them within a one-minute window by performing a specific action on their body. This would impact gameplay by encouraging players to actually finish off their opponents. It would make sense for the downed player to remain alive for, say, 30 seconds after being hit; this would allow teammates to close the distance, provide assistance, and regroup to revive them.

Players could have a chance to draw their sidearm during the final 5 seconds before death to engage enemies who fail to confirm kills. This mirrors real combat behavior where wounded soldiers still fight back, adding both realism and engaging gameplay dynamics

If you shoot the player in the leg or chest, he won't die; he'll remain lying there, screaming in pain and calling for help until someone comes to kill or treat him. Being cautious and verifying the enemy will be crucial, and this will add a very realistic feel.

GSW's to areas which wouldn't usually instant-kill, such as arteries, lungs, other organs and limbs etc; could knock the player onto the ground rendering them immobile, allowing the downed player to communicate a few last words such as enemies position or other useful info, before passing out/dying. The only available movement would be slight head rotation.

Instead of every serious hit causing immediate death, non-fatal injuries could place players into a downed state. Downed players could crawl slowly, bleed, and make sounds that may reveal their position to nearby enemies. Teammates would have a limited opportunity to reach and revive them using appropriate medical equipment, such as an EpiPen. This would create tense rescue situations and encourage greater teamwork.

rather than shooting people, and being on to the next in seconds with no realism in the fight, this could definitely add a more realistic feeling to the fight between the two enemies

Proposal: Non-Lethal Knockout (KO) System I would like to suggest adding a KO system to Bodycam that would allow players to recover from certain non-lethal injuries instead of immediately dying. How it could work When a player receives a serious but non-lethal injury, they could enter a downed/KO state rather than being instantly eliminated. During this state, the player would be unable to move. After a short period of time, the player could regain consciousness and get back on their feet. For example: A heavy impact, fall, or non-lethal gunshot could cause the player to become unconscious. The player would remain KO'd for a few seconds. During this time, teammates could potentially protect or assist them. If the injuries are not severe enough to be fatal, the player could eventually recover and stand back up. More serious injuries would still result in death, keeping the lethal nature and tension of the game intact. Why I think this could be interesting This system could make firefights feel more dynamic and realistic while giving players more tense moments where they are not immediately eliminated. It could also create interesting situations where a player appears to be dead but is actually unconscious, forcing enemies and teammates to make decisions about whether to check them, secure the area, or help them recover. The goal wouldn't be to make the game less lethal, but rather to introduce a distinction between being incapacitated and being dead. I think a well-balanced KO system could add another layer of immersion, tension, and tactical gameplay to Bodycam.

I think this could be cool, but it would really need some next level Reissad innovation to make this in such a way that it's not corny and repetitive.

Delayed death, that gives the ability to operate your assault rifle for a while? -Yes. Magical revivals? -No.

  • D. P03 Sept

I believe it would make a nice mechanic. But only in very certain situations. Maybe if a shot to a body part (other than head or torso. Also not when riddled with 20 shots from a rifle.) would kill a player they have a chance to have a final stand and or be revived with limited mobility or even a bleed out timer.

tryna turn it into fortnite or something

  • Jack04 Sept

I think it would be interesting for it to be fairly uncommon as opposed to every time you go down, and to add on to it, limited use of your pistol for a short time before you succumb to death - maybe no ads, one-handed and with some sluggishness to the arm movement to make you have to move your mouse more as if genuinely desperate to get a last couple shots in.

  • Fredrych04 Sept

odn add it, this isn't COD, ita unique game focused on realism, you are down you can't heal. keep this game at it's own, go to COD or Battlefield to fix their garbage

  • WoodShoe04 Sept

No revives, you shouldnt be able to regain uses of your limbs. But a slow death with ability to continue killing if youre not finished off is a must. Respawns are too quick. There is no punishment for getting shot.

  • Rå Potatis05 Sept

I think a medic system would be great if we get larger maps with more players in the future.

  • clippy06 Sept

i would love for you to be able to shoot for the last couple seconds, but a full revival system would be unrealistic because you can't just put a band aid on a bullet wound and forget it ever happened, also the respawns are fast enough and the versus rounds are short enough that it doesnt really matter if you revive them.

  • Reso9406 Sept

Please no "last stand like" CoD mechanics...

  • Tomo07 Sept

make it so you can be downed and be dragged to cover, but make it so youre revived by epinephrine instead of magically. this would also impair you depending on where you were shot, but a shot in a critical area will instantly kill you like normal.

  • enrik08 Sept

I think this would work very well depending on if your bullets were kill shots like a body or head. However, you guys see that through but your character already struggle as they dye and choke up blood if a teammate could make it to them it that time, I think it would still feel realistic enough and still apply a good feature

  • G09 Sept

People can be downed if they got shot in the leg or the arm or non lethal part of body. Add ability to drag and revive downed teammates.

  • big boy11 Sept

Im not sure how to feel about this, would add gameplay mechanics and strategy but not too realistic. How does last stand work, you were already shot up to 6 times with an mp5 and you go down. How many more times do you need to be shot?? How realistic is it to revive a guy back to his feet and in the fight?? No they're going out on a stretcher if they couldn't stand on their own.

  • eyel-e-ss12 Sept

No. A medic won't miraculously treat a gun shot in 30 seconds, put your brain back in your skull, swap your heart/lungs, fix your shattered arms/legs... If anything, the best option here is to maintain the player's camera after they are downed (except when killed via headshot). This would need to maintain the ragdoll physics and procedural character collapse to be implemented properly. However the character falls, is how much vision the camera would have. Until the opposing team double taps the dying character, information could be relayed until the death timer lapses. This would punish the opposing team for not completely disposing of a threat. Do not add a revive system, or last stand COD slop BS.

  • Lolitos23 Sept

I think this will make the game worse. It adds complexity for no reason, just die and go back to action.

  • 8342702 Oct

its nothing new. its just more realistic version of popular freeze tag game type and it would be great to have it here in versus game type.

  • Ming Yang04 Oct

I like this a lot since it rewards teamwork. Revives could even be tracked next to kills and K/D on a player profile. I posted "Add Player Profiles with Kills and K/D Stats", an upvote would be appreciated.

  • Village Idiot15 Oct

I would say mainly for low impacts like a shotgun from afar and stuff like that would be best
