Add Blind Firing from Behind Cover

Under considerationby Hanser · 27 Aug

Firstly, maintaining aim continuously isn't realistic in actual combat scenarios. Secondly, allowing blind fire during corner slicing or leaning without head exposure shouldn't impact game balance, as players still lack precise enemy location data—it remains a purely tactical action. However, it would significantly enhance immersion. Combined with positional advantage during gunfights, this mechanic would make the overall gameplay far more engaging and dynamic.

Maybe... And about mantaining aim I agree, but doesnt make it so painful, and to nerf that you need an mechanic that you can mount the gun like cod

i don't think that this would be a good idea, simply because they would have to add a maximum ammo system. right now you have infinite ammo, and if you had every gigachad blind firing around corners, they will never run out of ammo. and i like having infinite ammo

Although it would be cool to see this, I think it could cause lots of frustration when playing. Since you have unlimited mags, people can easily abuse this by just standing behind cover and blind firing all the time.

I feel like this would need to be added with a prone feature to keep it reactable and balanced, and that the gun should still have to be aimed completely manually without being able to see where you're shooting. It would honestly be great for strengthening careful play against over-aggressive sprinting SBR or SMG play (my favorite). I feel like this would be hard to implement since it would either need to be contextual (leading to bugs with recognition) or player-decided (leading to even more cluttered binds or exploits with putting guns through walls and such)

I think this would be really good in trench map when clearing trenches as players have to be more mindful of their exposure to blindfire. You are taking a risk by blindfiring in a trench because you have to be close to the angle which exposes the shooter to grenades. I think this feature would be good if the game had a more tactical and slower gamemode with altered equipment such as more grenades, however I do think this would be hard to balance and would kind of break the flow of the game. Maybe make a separate, tactical mode (attack&defend?) where players are allowed to blindfire, but only in that gamemode. Overall, this feature does have drawbacks and benefits, however I don't know if this is the way the bodycam devs want to go. As a side-note: The fact that the devs of bodycam included trenches purely based on modern combat leads me to believe they want to go down this tactical and more realistic route, as opposed to run-and-gun. Maybe we could have both some way.

Blind firing is a no - go for professionals so from a realistic point of view I would say no to this! This isn't Call of Duty

I disagree, blind fire would end up being a HUUGE nuisance. It's already a scary game and that can incentivize cheesy gameplay. Blind fire would be a crutch for so many weasels.

if they added full metal jacket rounds to counter this then i could see it being a good idea

Ability to raise your weapon above your head or from any side cover to shoot blindly with increased recoil (for example x2 of hipfire)

Yes, I thought about that too. The key is that, to implement it properly, it needs some kind of trade-off so it feels genuinely earned and realistic. If players can use it instantly at every corner, it could become an overused arcade mechanic and hurt the game’s pacing. For example, when you are near a corner and press a specific key, it could take a few seconds to get into position and a few seconds to return to normal. That would encourage players to use it selectively, like they would in a real-life situation, instead of spamming it at every angle.

In the Dev log of the game they showed reallife combat footage where a soldier did kinda blind fire and was holding a grenade in his hand. I agree. In a reallife combat scenario people would use blind fire. But for the sake of the balance I would limit it to small caliber for 2 reasons or make a different balancing. 1. A shotgun or higher caliber weapon needs a proper holding to keep the recoil under control. This is not the case when you move the Rifle away from a stable position 2. As a balance for not being able to use a shotgun for blind fire. It would be safer to get a blind fire kill with a shotgun while remaining a relatively small hitbox. or if all calibers are able to blind fire Make it depending on the stress level of the character. If stress level is too high, he would not be able to steady hold the trigger if full auto or double tap by accident instead of 1 shot and for a shotgun, before the weapon is around the corner he would already shoot randomly.

Along with realistic graphics realistic gun movements are needed as well, to go along with trenches map especially we need over head shooting, if you watch modern Ukraine trench fights this is one of the most common gun positions to blind fire over the trenches.
