Add Destructible Light Sources

Under considerationby MarcinD · 20 Aug

Allow players to shoot and destroy light sources throughout the maps. This would add more environmental interaction and create new tactical opportunities by allowing players to alter the visibility of an area during a match.

I was going to say this. Please go all out on this like you have with the sound design, weapon handling and animation! :D o7

Hm... I dont know if good idea, speciali in Backrooms map when you destroy all lights there will be completely dark. and as I know there are some people only waiting for ruin game.

This is a great idea. Games like Tarkov get this so right. When you throw a grenade in that game, the dust kicks, lights fall out of the ceiling, windows shatter, etc. Would be so fire to see that in this game. Obviously map or gamemode specific, backrooms would SUCK in the pitch black, and maybe competitive modes would also become undesirable, but fun in TDM!

I know one map has a generator. It would be cool if you could shoot it or disable it and turn the lights off. Essentially more enviromental interaction.

played yesterday, shot a light trying to make an area darker. DId not work. Came to post this and seen it was already suggested. Great Idea. After the round ends the map should not reset. Lights should be broken till the end of the game

this in the back rooms would be a game changer, everyone would need to use the flash light.

yes but offer flares or throwable light up cat balls as a counter, offer the cat balls anyway- small white LED, toss three at a time they roll and slowly flash, nothing crazy but quiet distraction and a light source until they die after 30 seconds

Bodycam has pre scanned environments as maps with lightening baked in, that's why you don't see any weather or time of day variation on maps. And this is another reason why the game demands a very strong pc to run. I am pretty sure, it's not possible to add dynamic lightening to these maps in a way it can be done in a custom made 3d map.

I don't like the idea of permanently being able to shoot all the lights on a map.. it will be abused by trolls and games would be played in pitch black! Maybe it is an idea to be able to control the light in a different way, for example by using the light switch in a room so you can turn it off but it can be turned on again by other players.. or there is a main switch for the house that kills all the lights until someone puts it back on.

As someone who's played FPS games most of their life, adding destructible light sources to a competitive multiplayer game wouldn't be cohesive. Maybe only certain lights can be shot out in certain specific areas of the map in order to add a dynamic engagement in that specific space. But having all light sources destructible in all maps would sway the balance of how the game is played too much. But ultimately, that's up to the devs to decide how they want their gameplay loop to be. Personally, I think the current gameplay loop is super fun as is.

This would only work for larger maps with many light sources. Otherwise people would just shoot all the lights in the beginning of the match because the maps are small and less than 20 people per team

If they do this, they also need to add in an "eyes light adjustment" mechanic. IRL, when you stay in low-light for long enough, your eyes adapt and you start to see better, but they become more sensitive to bright lights. This would be really helpful because in this game, dark is DARK. Flashlights give your position away instantly, so we need some kind of option for seeing better in the dark

I don't like this idea, people would just concentrate on destroying every light source at the beginning of the match, and the game would devolve into that. I know it's fun, but I don't want to fight in pitch darkness for a 4-hour session.

this could be very good to have, think right its a 1v1 and the map is bright and u want to hold a angle without being seen, shoot the lights near u to dim u and your area while the opp is well light. please add this, very good feature.

Definitely don't want this. Please no destructible lights. I don't want to be cranking up my Gamma and messing with Nvidia filter settings and washing out this great looking game just to maintain an equal playing field with the other players who are doing this. This is already a mild problem as it stands now in the game. The people who are upvoting this suggestion likely aren't considering the unintended consequences. It sounds cool at face value, but will be a net negative.

i would absolutely love this, but since you can turn the gamma up, it would hardly make any difference. Even the darkest rooms in hospital, looks like its full on day time. So if someone plays with gamma, set to 2 or lower anyone with gamma set to 3 or higher, will still have a massive advantage against the other player.

NIGHT VISION WOULD GO GREAT WITH THIS UPVOTE
